About Us

My name is Jeff, I'm a self employed massage therapist working Whitehaven, Cumbria.

One Promise Nepal began following my recent visit to Nepal, a very short visit, technically my first, but not my first to the region.

Almost 20 years prior, I was in Sandakphu, on the Nepalese border but on the Indian side, at altitute. The experiences I had there made an incredible impression abut I knew the ultimate destination should be Nepal.  It's almost a scandal its taken 20 years to fullfil this aim. But now I have,  it's time to make a difference.

I stayed in Nayarbazar, Kathmandu, in a Homestay with Kopila and her family. I'd communicated with Kopila before going out so she had an idea of what I wanted to do. But I couldn't find the right outlet.

We had breakfast with her husband and agreed sponsoring a child through their school lives would be a perfect way to help.  It turns out, the amount I was prepared to send was enough for 4 children, not 1, so, for the next 14 years, I'll be covering the schooling fees for 4 childre. This is a personal sponsorship and does not involve One Promise Nepal at all.

And now I'm thinking, I can do more. But what? I've tried to contact a small Orphanage but after a few weeks I wasn't getting anywhere, I messaged Kopila and within 24 hours, with her help, I was in contact with an alternative orphanage, Mother Nepal Disability Child Care Home, One Promise Nepal then started to take shape.

My aim is to raise 1,000,000 NPR, approx £5000, not in any particular time frame, but ideally half this amount before my visit.

The money will go towards essentials, food, education and medical support.

In additional to Mother Nepal DIsability Child Care Home, funds will also go to Keta Keti Primary School,  providing scholarships for children from a disadvanted background.

Transparancy is guaranteed! From funds raised, withdrawls, how the money is spent, everything will be documented.

100% of monies raised will go to the children. I won't deduct anything from the amount raised, my own travel costs, private sponsorship and gift for children, will come out of my own income.

Hopefully, this is just the beginning, I'd love for this to become a significant part of my life and therefore enabling us, you and me, to make a difference to not just 1 or 2 lives, but to a community, hopefully, several communities.
